Swedish School of Textiles starts teaching digital trade

Shopping in the physical world is definitely going more and more digital. Rebecca Minkoff installed smart mirrors in the changing rooms of her flagship store a good while ago to make try-ons easier, and by fall 2015 Zara had done something similar by providing ipads in theirs. Now The Swedish School of Textiles in Borås has added the masters course Management of digital trade to their curriculum. The course is intended for students with a bachelor in business administration and the idea is to create an understanding not only for online trade but also how trade in physical stores is starting to change with these digital in store-solutions.

Stil & Teknik på Fashion Week Stockholm: Kreativ käftsmäll från Borås

Pang!

Stil & Teknik at Fashion Week Stockholm: Creative bang from Borås
Bam! There was a looot of impressions when the bachelor and master students of Swedish School of Textile showed their graduation collections today. A creative smack on the mouth if you will, where colours and forms and structures were competing with each other for the attention. A lot of the students have worked with deconstruction, with re-interpretations of clothing as concept. And that’s always exciting. But it surprised me that none (?) of the participants – who are after all from a school where they work a lot with that kind of thing – seem to have worked with smart textiles or sensor technology in some way in order to create these re-interpretations. But maybe next year!
